I have just had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Channel 4 'Undateables' star Tom Morgan. He captured the nations heart with his sweet nature & good looks. I've caught up with him to see how life is after the show!
For those of you that didn't see it, Tom Morgan is a 26 yr old, talented Rugby player from Wales who has Tourette's and Asperger's. He appeared on the show 'Undateables' which is about people who struggle to find romance because of their conditions.
One thing I will make a note on, is that I never really approved of the name 'undateables' which is why i was really pleased when Tom mentioned that he also shares the same view on the subject, stating everyone is dateable! Too true, Love is universal.
See what he had to say below!
Do you find that Rugby/Sport creates a release for your Tourettes? Definately! Focusing on the task at hand and just being able to forget about everything else really helps!
As most are aware you gained huge attention from the show, is this something you'd like to continue to do and raise awareness? Yes 100%, I feel like Tourettes & Aspergers are sometimes quite misunderstood it can be a very draining condition, there's alot that goes on underneath that people don't see.
Have you found the lucky lady? No not yet! I have been so busy after the show i just haven't had time! (from all the girls reactions on Twitter we know he's not short of options!)
Has your life changed since the show? Yes massively! I have started to get recognised. I haven't changed as a person but i feel like i'm getting treated like a man now rather than a naughty school kid. I'm way more confident too.
Do you have any advice for somebody who may be in a similar position? Be yourself, don't hide like I did for so many years. As long as you have your family and friends that's what matters, you have to be open.
What is your ideal type in a girl? Mixture of sporty and girly, they have to be down to earth and kind.
Who is your celebrity crush...expecting him to say Rihanna or Miranda Kerr etc... Toms crush is Little Mix & Stacy from Eastenders! (Love it)
Any fitness tips? Train as hard as you can, you only get what you put in!
Would you do it all over again? Yes, I was dreading it coming out on TV but the awareness it raised was worth it.
Tom finished the interview with a closing statement about who he really is, with a little input from his lovely Mum Elaine!
Tom - "To be honest, the media is making me out to be an angel but overall i'm definately 'no angel'! Everyone has their faults, and we all have regrets. At school I wasn't the best behaved child, as I didn't really know what was going on as I didn't get diagnosed til I was older. I just like to joke around and be a typical lad! I can be a bit too much for some people, sometimes my energy is just so hyper and other times it's the opposite, so it's hard for people to understand me!"
Elaine - "He still banters with his dad and brother! He has hit the nail on the head with what he has just said, his friendship group understand who he is which is great!"
He is definitely a Blonde Junk favourite.
